A family, a wine, and its roots

The great genealogical tree of the Camerano family – as result of research in the archives of the Municipality and the Parish of Barolo – dates back to thirteen generations up to 1570. In that year Lucio Camerano married Vittorina; from that union seven children were born.

A hard life, that of the generations that have come and gone, bonded to the earth and its rhythms. The life of large families, with many mouths to feed: Vittorio’s grandfather had 17 brothers and sisters.

Camerano and the barolo of barolo
The name of the Camerano family is therefore firmly linked to the capital of the “king of wines”: their roots lie in this town, and precisely among these streets, since 1875, in the shadow of the majestic castle of the Marquises Falletti, wine from nebbiolo grapes has been continuously produced, today Barolo of Barolo, in the family wine cellar that was once located in via Pietro Donati.

In the heart of barolo
In the 1970s the winery moved to Via Roma and since 1992 it is Vittorio Camerano who has carried on the great tradition inaugurated by his great-grandfather Gaspare and continued with his grandfather Vittorio and his father Pier Ettore: leading interpreters and authoritative voices in the history of classic wines from Langa and Barolo in particular.
