The recognition of “Italian City of Wine 2021” was awarded on 7 November 2020 to Barolo by the City of Wine Association.

The underlying theme of the candidacy is a great journey between tradition and modernity that encompasses the very soul of Barolo, a wine with an ancient history that has been able to renew itself and open up to the world.

The winning program of Barolo, which includes several events such as exhibitions, seminars, lectio magistralis, art installations and much more, was developed by the Municipality in collaboration with the Barolo & Castle Foundation, which is also the executive arm of the calendar of events of the Italian City of Wine 2021.

24 major initiatives are planned as part of the “Barolo Italian City of Wine 2021” program. Among these, for the “memory” and “community” themes, the Hall of Fame, that is the entrance ceremony of the great personalities of Italian wine in the Wine Museum. Furthermore: international twinnings between museums and wine territories; initiatives of bringing the countryside and the city closer together; the Autumn Convention of the Cities of Wine; but even contemporary art exhibitions in some Barolo wine cellars, collaborating with Artissima, the leading Italian trade fair.

And of course, if the health situation would allow it, great tastings of Barolo. The program will be published in the next few days on the official website, under construction.
